Greta Jacket & Gilet Sewing Pattern

£14.00

Greta Jacket Sewing Pattern

Greta is a versatile garment that can be worn and finished in so many ways! Here we have outlined some ways you can use and finish your Greta.

Version 1 | Jacket:

A boxy style long-sleeved jacket with a wide funnel stand collar and separate placket. Details include; a dropped back hemline with curved side seams, exposed button through placket and patch pockets.

Version 1 can be lined, by cutting the bodice and sleeve patterns again or left as an outer coat single layer garment and finished on the inside by overlocking the raw edges or neatened with binding.

Version 1 | Gilet:

A boxy style gilet with a wide funnel stand collar and separate placket. Details include; a dropped back hemline with curved side seams, exposed button through placket and patch pockets. Finish your gilet with bias bound armholes and hem.

Version 2 | Jacket:

A boxy style, round neck, long-sleeved jacket with a grown-on placket. Details include; a dropped back hemline with curved side seams, press stud fastenings and patch pockets.

Version 2 can be made as a reversible garment (meaning you can create two coats in one; an outer and an inner coat, which will be sewn together and finished with bias-binding).

Alternatively, you can create your Greta as a single layer outer coat garment, finishing it on the inside by overlocking the raw edges or with for a cleaner look, with binding.

Version 2 | Gilet:

A boxy style, round neck, gilet with a grown-on placket. Details include; a dropped back hemline with curved side seams, press stud fastenings and patch pockets.

Reversible style optional (as above). Finish your gilet with bias bound armholes and hem.

If you would like the sleeves a little longer to include a turn back cuff, follow the lengthening lines on the sleeves and amend to the desired length.

The Greta can also be made as a gilet by following the inside line on the bodice patterns!

Batting/Quilting:

You may want to add batting or quilt-your-own main fabric to create a quilted coat style - we recommend using Vlieseline 'Low Loft Batting 249' (47/m2) or 'R80 Batting' (80g/m2), or if you would prefer an iron-on fused batting, we recommend using Vlieseline H630 (86g/m2) or H640 (131g/m2), choosing a weight/thickness depending on how warm/thick you would prefer Greta to be.

Suitable Fabrics

Quilted/Padded fabric (bought or self-made) | Light to mid-weight denim | Cotton Twill | Needlecord | Wool Blends | Fleece/Borg style fabric | Viscose | Cotton Lawn | Craft Cotton for lining/inner jacket or gilet

The Greta is a boxy style which lends itself to light to mid-weight fabrics for a more spring-style garment, or why not use a thicker weighted fabric, like a borg or fleece a line in a single jersey for a more cosy winter addition to your wardrobe.

A Note From Jules...

When deciding on sizing, we advise you to take the finished garment measurements into consideration (these are detailed at the back of your instruction booklet).

We also recommend creating a toile before cutting into your chosen fabrics for safe measure. Happy sewing!
