Intro into Quilting Weekend
Join us for a whole weekend to learn the best way to create a simple patchwork quilt.
This is the perfect introduction to the art of quilting where you will be able to learn at your own pace with all the help and support you need to create your own lap quilt (aprox. size 125cm x 85cm)
You will learn about colour theory and how to match your fabrics to create a beautiful design. How to accurately cut your fabric into basic shapes and piece it together to create a beautiful patchwork. Then you will learn how to layer up the patchwork with batting and backing, and how to quilt the layers together. Finally binding your work to create a small lap or baby quilt.
All of the skills and techniques you will learn will take you through a multitude of patchwork and quilting skills.
All equipment and batting will be provided.
You will need to bring at least 6 fat quarters for the top of the quilt. You will also need cotton fabric for the back (1.4m) and cotton fabric for binding (0.5m)- these will be available to purchase in the workshop or you can bring your own.
There'll be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep you sewing.
