The Jersey Day
Does the thought of sewing with jersey knits make you break out in a cold sweat? Fear not we will show you how to tackle this most forgiving of fabrics.
In the morning we will show you a range of different ways of sewing jersey knits both with an overlocker and an ordinary sewing machine. You will try these out and keep a record of your samples to refer back to when making up jersey at home.
Then in the afternoon you can put into practice what you've learnt to make up your own t-shirt using the right techniques and skills.
You will need to have done some dressmaking before but not necessarily used an overlocker. You will also need to bring along some jersey to make your t-shirt in, about 1.5-2m depending on the size you would like to make. We will be making a t-shirt similar to our round neck Peaseblossom. Please call/ email us for more information on fabric quantities. There will be some fabric available to purchase on the day should you require it.
We will provide all the sample fabrics, tools and equipment. There will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake to keep you sewing but you will need to bring some lunch with you.
