Hippolyta Dress Pattern
Hippolyta is Queen of the Amazns and can be found in A Midsummer Night's Dream. She is to be married to Theseus who conquered her and her mythical female Amazons in battle. And as far as the Shakespearean version if this is concerned, she was quite happy to be literally a 'trophy wife'.
But this is probably more symbolic wishful thinking on the part of the Elizabethan hierarchy who were not comfortable with a powerful woman who refused to marry. Hence Shakespeare's Hippolyta has hung up her sword and is even looking forward to her wedding night.
However, wearing our Hippolyta you certainly won't be compromising your Amazonian powers.
The Hippolyta Dress has batwing sleeves to give oodles of comfort and ease, but the two piece shirt collar adds a certain gravitas. Strategically placed seams provide detail and hidden pockets - of course! With the turned back cuffs just finishing off the three quarter length sleeves perfectly. This is another everyday classic.
