Portia Trouser Pattern
Portia is from The Merchant of Venice and at first, appears to be held captive by her dead father's dying wishes.
However, she is not your ordinary Venetian maiden and once she has set her heart on her love, Bassanio, nothing will stop her.
She outwits the wily Shylock, saves her lovers best friend from mortal danger and all by managing to stay within the letter of the law. She is highly resourceful and thinks 'outside the box'. Anyone can break the rules but it's how you make them work for you that counts.
The Portia Trousers appear to adhere to convention but it's the attitude you have while wearing them that makes the difference.
Katherine Hepburn would have loved these trousers with their ever-so-slightly masculine style. They sit just below the natural waist and hang straight down from the hip. Worn long and sassy, they have angled jeans-style front pockets and back patch pockets to give them a more modern feel.
A wool suiting, linen or lightweight denim make up beautifully in this classic shaped trouser.
You will also need a 6" zip and button for the fly opening and interfacing for the waistband.
