FAQ

What happens if I’m early for my class or workshop?

Your workshop times will be stated at the time of booking. Please do not arrive early, as you will not be able to wait in the studio. If you arrive more than 15 mins early you may be asked to leave and come back later ready for the class. If there is a queue outside for the workshop, please observe the 2m social distancing guidance.

How many people will be in my workshop?

A maximum of 6 people will be able to book onto each workshop in order to adhere to government guidelines for social distancing.

What happens when I arrive for a class or workshop?

When you arrive please ring on the doorbell and the tutor will let you in. You will be asked to sign in at the reception desk so we can use the track and trace system and to use the hand sanitiser provided. You will then be shown to your workstation.

Will I have to wear a facemask?

Face masks/face coverings are mandatory and expected to be worn during the class, unless you are medically exempt. But the tutor will be wearing a visor so you can see them speaking.

Will you provide a face covering?

Face coverings will not be provided. But if you forget one there will be some available to purchase.

Will I have access to toilet facilities?

You will have access to a customer toilet facility. This will be cleaned regularly and anti-bacterial wipes will be available. Sink and handwashing facilities are available in the studio and toilet. But you will not be allowed access to the sink in the kitchen area.

How will you encourage social distancing?

You will have your own designated sewing and cutting zone to work at during your class. These will be numbered so you can clearly see which is your area.  Please stay in your work areas and avoid unnecessary circulating around the studio (wherever possible). There will be 3 designated ironing zones. Anti-bacterial wipes to wipe will be provided for you to wipe down the iron handle after you have used it. During your time in the studio please observe social distancing of 2m with staff and fellow workshop attendees. Where this is not possible, please maintain 1m+ distance.

How will the spaces be cleaned?

Each studio will be cleaned before the start of the class. However, students will be asked to wipe down their workstation with sanitiser spray/disposable wipes at the start and at the end of the session.

Will I have to share materials?

Each student will be given a pack of materials and tools at the start of the class to minimise sharing of materials. These will have been pre-sterilised. For any materials or equipment that need to be shared the tutor will ask that hands are washed/sanitised before and after use and sterilising solution to be applied to the item after you have finished.

Will I still be able to watch demonstrations?

Yes - the attendees and tutors workspaces will be separated by clear plastic screens so it will still be possible to clearly see tutor led instructions while maintaining the correct distance from others in the workshop or class.

Can I still buy fabric and haberdashery for my class from the shop?

If you need any fabric or notions to complete your course, please order these ahead of time so that you can pre-wash the fabric if necessary. Or we can have your order ready for you at your workstation. Shopping time prior to the workshop starting will be very limited so it is best to order ahead.

If you haven’t pre-ordered but do need to buy any supplies from the shop for your workshop you may do this after check in with your tutor. You must first proceed to your workstation to drop off any bags and coats. You will then need to sanitise your hands before being able to enter the shop area when it’s safe to do so (max of 1 person in the shop at any one time).

Will there be time to look around the shop after the workshop/class?

Unfortunately, due to the additional cleaning time we need before and after each workshop/class we need to be strict on starting and finishing times. So there will not be time for shopping at the end of the sessions. The tutor may allow a time during the workshop or class itself for you to have a look in the shop area, but this will be down to individual tutor discretion. We recommend having a good look online before your visit to us so you know what you would like to look at specifically before you arrive.

What happens if I have to miss a class or workshop due to Covid19?

If you are unwell and have to miss a class or workshop we are unable to provide you with a refund or transfer.  The costs involved in running our classes have actually increased due to the reduced numbers and additional cleaning costs so our resources are limited and have to be constrained to each workshop. This is why transfers and refunds are not possible. I do hope you will understand.

Will there still be cake?

Absolutely! Tea, coffee and cakes will be provided.  The tutor or technician will make all the refreshments for you and serve them to you individually to minimise multiple contact. We use china mugs and plates and metal cutlery so it can all be washed and sterilized after each use. If you prefer to bring your own refreshments please feel free to do so. We are unable to provide lunches so please remember to bring a packed lunch with you if required. All refreshments will need to be consumed at your own workstation.
