We are seeking a proactive positive team player to help coordinate our marketing for Sew Me Something and The Makers’ Space. 

Sew Me Something has been helping to people to sew and make things for the last 12 years. With our move to The Makers’ Space early this year we now have a creative venue to inspire and delight. 

Our business has grown exponentially over the last few years and now encompasses a bricks and mortar haberdashery store, 3 creative studio workshop spaces, a co-working space and a cafe. On top of our core business which is designing and producing dressmaking patterns and running sewing and craft workshops.

We are seeking a team playing with excellent communication skills with a hands-on approach to help us tell the story of our Brand, how we help our customers, have developed as a business and plan on moving forward. Someone positive and self-motivated who loves to get out from behind a desk and interact with customers. Someone who has a proven record of achieving results by increasing revenue and conversion through marketing activities.

They will need to have experience in hospitality and or an active interest in the creative crafts industries. So they will have a good understanding of what we are doing, our products and the services we offer. 

Previous experience of running or managing creative campaigns and telling brand stories is essential and you will ideally possess a good blend of commercial and creative skills as well as excellent copywriting and a good eye for captivating images.

Flexibility is also key within this role. We hold a number of events at The Makers’ Space and attend a number of exhibitions and shows throughout the year both locally and nationally that may mean working away from home and your participation as a marketing team member in some of those will be required.

Skills Set


You will have a good knowledge of fabric and textiles. Knowledge of other crafts would be an advantage too. An eye for visual communication will also be essential. 

In line with our brand aesthetic you will also be required to:

  • Create marketing collateral for social media posts and visual promotions with the support of our photo/videographer.
  • Write compelling copy for our social media platforms and emails.
  • Help to plan and style photoshoots.
  • Work collaboratively with the design team to maintain and develop knowledge on all our products and services.
  • Support the retail staff at consumer events, locally and nationally.
  • IT skills: preferably a Mac user, proficient in MS Office packages. Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud and or Canva would be advantageous



You will need to demonstrate a commercial awareness and reasonably good knowledge of similar businesses operating within this sector. Excellent organisational and IT skills will be required with a high degree of accuracy and strong numerical and analytical skills.

In this area you will be required to:

  • Identify new ideas and opportunities to maintain a competitive edge within the market.
  • Maintain and build good relationships with our customers and other stakeholders.
  • Compile, analyse and report on marketing data.
  • Regularly check SEO optimisation and report back to the rest of the team.
  • Work with existing software and quickly develop an understanding of new software
  • Be alert to systems which need updating to increase efficiency
  • Ensure brand values and guidelines are maintained across all digital strategies

• This is a full-time permanent position preceded by a 6 month trial period.

• Hours are 5 full days per week which may include weekends at some of the shows.
