Job Title: Production Assistant
Hourly Rate: Commensurate with experience
Contracted hours: Mon - Fri 9:00am - 5:00pm (but would consider part time or flexible hours for the right candidate) with some weekends
The main focus of Sew Me Something is to help people, and this should be yours too. It is important to go that extra mile and put a smile on someone’s face to brighten up their day.
This is a new role and you will be working closely with Jules Fallon (designer and founder of Sewing Me Something) but also be happy to work on your own, undertaking specific projects and tasks to support Jules in adding to the range of creative content for both print and digital platforms.
You will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills, be able to work unsupervised, be a quick learner and use your own initiative to prioritise tasks.
Attention to detail is fundamental to this role as you will be required to ensure the accuracy of particular elements of a project.
We have regular meetings to monitor the progress of the business so you will need to be approachable and friendly, but equally able to voice your opinion if you can see a better way of working or adding creative content. Flexibility is also key within this role.
Although your hours will be mainly during the working week, we attend a number of exhibitions and shows throughout the year and your participation in some of those will be required.
We have a “can-do” approach within the business and rely on everyone’s ability to pitch in when needed.
A positive attitude to approaching challenges is key as there is always a way around any issue.
This position is currently full-time, but part-time or a job share would be considered for the right candidate.
Assist in the creation of technical drawings and layout of graphic material ensuring accuracy and that all relevant information is included.
Assist in the creation of new patterns ensuring their accuracy and that all relevant information is included.
Assist in the design and layout of various graphic based marketing projects.
Assist with the implementation of advertising and promotional strategies and activities including social media - Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
Collaborate with the team for new product launches
Attend exhibitions and shows helping to set up and breakdown the stand as well as speaking to the public about our products.
Education / Qualifications
- Excellent numeracy and literacy qualifications.
- Graphics or design qualifications.
- Clean driving license
- Sewing, textiles or pattern cutting qualifications
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe software applications, specifically Illustrator and InDesign
- An understanding of social media platforms - including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest
- Working knowledge of sewing or dressmaking
- Regular user of social media – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest
